WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Hundreds of students have been dropped from Wake County's school reassignment plan.
After listening to ideas and comments from parents at a public hearing last month, the board decided to remove 670 students from the plan. The moves dropped from the plan include:
Cary High to Athens Drive High
East Wake High to Garner High
Some from Wakefield High to Wake Forest-Rolesville High
Some from Broughton High to Leesville Road High
Leesville High to Sanderson High
Apex Middle to Dillard Drive Middle
Some from Daniels Middle to Leesville Road Middle
Davis Drive Middle to East Cary Middle
East Millbrook Middle to Carroll Middle
Holly Springs Elementary to Lincoln Heights Elementary
Willow Springs Elementary to Ballentine Elementary
Stough Elementary to Leesville Road
Board members also decided to move 260 students to different schools, which requires another public hearing. Those moves include:
Garner High students going to Middle Creek High instead of Athens Drive High
Some Martin Middle students going to Leesville Road Middle instead of Daniels
Apex Elementary students going to Swift Creek Elementary instead of Dillard Drive
Lead Mine Elementary students going to Brassfield Elementary instead of Pleasant Union
That hearing will take place during the board's next meeting on March 19. It starts at 6:30 p.m. at the school administration building.
A final vote is expected following the hearing.
