Take Heart In The Health Benefits Of Chocolate

CARY, N.C. — Chocolate is anything but a health food, but it does have some health benefits.
Researchers have found that chocolate contains natural substances, called flavanoids, which help protect against heart disease and certain cancers.
Chocolate contains antioxidants, which lowers cholesterol, and it has been found to boost serotonin levels, which helps ward off depression.
It is important to enjoy chocolate in moderation.
In most studies a half-ounce of chocolate was all that was needed to reap the benefits.
The fat and calories consumed when overindulging will far outweigh the benefits.
