WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Everyone needs a little help from their friends once in a while, and one Wake County woman is grateful for hers.
Dorothy Jones thought she was out of luck when her 40-year-old well ran dry. She called local governments and tried to get city water, but her home's just outside of Rolesville and connecting would cost $25,000.
Instead, three local businessmen stepped in and are footing the $4,000 bill for a new well.
"I'm real proud that the Lord sent someone to help me. I would have hugged them but their wives might not have liked it," she said.
The three men have also brought Jones drinking water until the well is finished.
They hope to get charitable or government grants to help cover the costs.
