GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro man who claims he was wrongly convicted has filed for a new trial.
Terence Garner has been in prison since he was convicted of armed robbery and attempted murder in 1998. His attorney has filed motions for a re-trial in Johnston County.
The shooting victim identified Garner, even though another man confessed to the crime. That man later recanted his story.
A recent "Frontline" documentary on PBS brought national attention to the case.
