RALEIGH, N.C. — If you are looking for a pet, there is a Web site that lets you browse for adoptable animals in your neighborhood.
Petfinder.com
is a virtual animal shelter. Many types of pets are available, and they all need homes. You can search by ZIP code or city and you will get a choice of pets, many with pictures.
Shelters and rescue groups in North Carolina are represented on the Web site, including Durham's Carolina Border Collie Rescue.
More than 500,000 animals were adopted last year on Petfinder.com.
