DURHAM, N.C. — Buses used to shuttle Duke students to and from class are now taking them off campus. Beginning Friday, the buses will be used to shuttle students to some of the Bull City's hottest night spots.
Students hope the new bus rides downtown will become a Duke tradition.
"It's pretty convenient. It is not a very long trip," said student Seann Duffin. "There is no temptation to drink and drive. Sometimes, students will go out and have a few drinks. If there is a bus service, they won't have to get in the car."?
The bus service will run every 30 minutes to places in Durham such as Brightleaf Square and Ninth Street.
The new Friday and Saturday routes will cost Duke University about $1,100 per weekend. There is no charge for the students to ride the bus.
