FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Fayetteville chapter of the National Organization for Women is calling on an end to domestic violence.
Members of NOW gathered on the steps of the Cumberland County Courthouse Friday. They were inspired to hold this rally following the murder of Shalamar Franceschi. Police said her husband killed her.
The victim's co-workers want tougher domestic violence laws.
"She lightened up the room when she walked in, but we want the community to know that we can prevent this and stay on our lawmakers. Her death will not be in vain," said Tyniesse Harrison, a co-worker.
Partipicants released 24 purple balloons, one for each year of Franceschi's life.
