Wake County Sheriff's detectives arrested John William Imm, 36, of Questor Lane.Investigators said that Imm had downloaded or purchased more than 340 photos and movies of boys engaged in various sex acts.
Detectives said that there was no evidence that Imm had distributed the pictures or had been involved in the molestation.
Lt. Gary Burrell said that possession of child pornography is a form of terrorism.
"It's said that these are some of the same children that are kidnapped or missing and then they're used in these type productions. Anyone that purchases these type of materials, they are contributing to that," Burrell said.
If convicted, Imm faces a maximum of four to six years in prison. According to the search warrant, Imm's wife tipped off authorities.
