FUQUAY-VARINA — Some local kids are doing their part to help families in need this holiday season.
Students in the fourth and fifth grade at
Lincoln Heights Magnet Elementary School
are participating in the school's ninth annual Empty Bowl Project.
Using art to fight hunger, students will barter their beautiful, handmade bowls for food.
The students will trade their bowls during an art fair on Sat., December 8. It runs from 10 a.m. until noon in the school cafeteria.
The 187 bowls made by students are expected to go quickly. The cost for a bowl is 20 cans of food.
The food collected will be distributed to local food banks.
