School Bus, Van Involved In Accident In Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — A school bus and a van were involved in an accident in Raleigh.

According to the state Highway Patrol, a Verizon Wireless van was pulling a trailer when the driver tried to stop on a hill near the corner of Durant and Honeycutt roads in Raleigh. Officials say the van ran a stop sign, hit a telephone pole and hit a school bus.

The bus, No. 1006, was heading to East Millbrook Middle School when the accident happened. Four children and the driver, Dorothy Montague, were on the bus, but none of them was hurt.

Some power lines will have to be repaired because the accident snapped a pole.

Authorities say the driver of the van, Stanley Evans, has been charged with failing to stop.
