Red Light Cameras Coming To The Capital City

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Drivers who run red lights in Raleigh will soon be caught on tape.

On Wednesday, the Raleigh City Council voted to install the cameras at some of the city's busiest intersections.

There are about two dozen suggestions on where to put the cameras, but the final list has not been compiled. Traffic cameras will not be installed until the city council designates which intersections will get them.

In July, legislators gave Raleigh and other Wake County towns authority to put up the cameras at intersections, with profits from ticket collections going to Wake County Schools.
