Holly Springs Students Create Patriotic Quilt

Posted November 8, 2001

— One Wake County elementary school wanted students to record their thoughts about patriotism after the Afghan war began.

With the help of the Holly Springs Women's Club, little squares of fabric will form a great big flag quilt. Club members were on hand Tuesday and Wednesday, piecing together 1,000 squares, each designed by a student.

"We had to draw something that represents our country. You could put a flag on it or 'God Bless America,' or I love the United States or something," said student Brandi Anderson.

The Women's Club expects to finish the quilt in time for a President's Day unveiling in February.
