Authorities say that the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions around 8:15 a.m. when they scraped sides along the 1400 block of Old Knight Road, near Forestville Road.
The residential area is just north of Highway 64 near Knightdale.
The driver of the truck says he did not know what hit him.
"The only thing I can say is I never saw the bus. I don't know whether she came out from the [sub]division or below. All I can say is there was a bam," said Otis Freeman, the driver of the pick-up truck.
Freeman and several Lockhart Elementary students were treated on the scene for minor injuries. The bus driver, who is eight months pregnant, was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
The uninjured students were transferred to another school bus or picked up by parents.
The Highway Patrol said its report is not yet complete, and there is no word on whether charges will be filed.
