Durham Police Dept. Opens New Victims Assistance Center

DURHAM, NC — The Durham Police Department's new Victims AssistanceCenter had its grand opening Wednesday.

The new center is located at 201 West Main Street, between the Latino Credit Union and the HispanicCenter.

"The ambiance will be less threatening to people," said Nestor Gonzalez, thePolice Department's Victim/Witness Services Coordinator. "We will providevictim services plus provide public information about other services. Wewill help people file police reports."

The Center will be open three days a week:

  • Mondays: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Fridays: Noon-8 p.m.
  • Gonzalez, who is bilingual, will be at the Victims Assistance Centerduring these hours.

    Victim assistance services are also provided at Durham Police Headquarters.
