Durham Police Investigate Similarities in Stabbing Deaths

Posted Updated

DURHAM — Durham police are hoping the public has clues that could help them solve two recent murders.

John Cash, 31, was killed in his North Roxboro Road Apartment on Sunday; Michael Neice, 30, was found inside his apartment on Farrington Road almost a month ago. Police say that both men were stabbed to death.

Investigators say there are striking similiarities in the cases. They say that both victims were about the same age, that both were gay and were known to frequent Internet chat rooms.

"We're not making any assumptions at this point, but still feel we needed to make the community aware of the similarities between the two cases,'' said Capt. Robin James.

Police say that they have not determined if the same killer is responsible for both crimes, but are working on several leads.
