New NC Art Exhibit Profiles Communities

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — A photography exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of Art is giving new meaning to the word "community."

The show, titled "Indivisible," profiles grass-roots community groups working to improve the quality of life in their areas.

The exhibit features more than 175 photographs and oral histories from 12 regions, including North Carolina.

Curators say now more than ever, community is important.

"It is in many ways -- unfortunately -- very timely in the sense that since September 11, people have been really focused on what community means in America and how important it is," says curator Tom Rankin.

The exhibit will be open through January 6.
