SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Cumberland County authorities were searching Wednesday for a Spring Lake teen who last seen by family members Sunday night.

The family of Vincent Carlisle Jr., 17, of Carmichael Lane, said the teen hasn't responded to any phone calls or text messages and hasn't logged on to his Facebook page for several days. They said it's uncharacteristic of Carlisle and they are concerned.

They declined to be interviewed, but did say they fear that Carlisle is dead.

So does Brian Richey, who said Carlisle is his best friend.

"(I'm) depressed, sad, mad, just wondering what happened (and) how it happened," Richey said.

Family friend Niya Washington said she was Carlisle's middle school teacher and that he was a "good kid."

"None of this makes sense," she said. "I don't understand why he's not here."

Deputies focused their search Wednesday on an area near N.C. Highway 210, along the Harnett County line, but would not elaborate on why.

Carlisle was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue basketball shorts. He is a rising senior at Overhills High School in Spring Lake.

Anyone with information about Carlisle’s whereabouts should contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500 or call the anonymous tips line at 910-484-8477.
