NC Health Choice for Children Reopens Enrollment

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — There is good news and reviews for the first three years of a popular health insurance program for North Carolina children.

A study released on Tuesday shows that N.C. Health Choice for Children has been successful in improving access to health care for low-income children. Parents reported that the program helped them make sure they got their children the health care that they needed.

Nine months after running out of money and freezing enrollments, the state's child health insurance program is looking to recruit new applicants.

The General Assembly added $8 million to the program's budget last week. Workers are now scrambling to find children to take advantage of that money.
