Abused Dog Continues To Improve

GARNER — Sydney, a two-year-old dog allegedly abused by its owner,

continues to improve

at the

Wake County SPCA

.

The dog, a Rottweiler-Beagle mix, is recovering from a broken jaw and other injuries.

Her owner, Brett Merrick of Garner, is

charged with animal cruelty

after witnesses say he stomped on the dog's head last Saturday.

The SPCA hopes to gain custody so it can find Sydney a good home. A volunteer will be providing foster care for her as she continues to improve.

In the meantime, the SPCA has started the fund to help cover the cost of vet bills. To contribute, call at 772-2326 or send donations to:
