SMITHFIELD — A Smithfield man faces charges in connection with an overnight shooting.
Police say three people were riding in a pickup truck along Fayetteville Street in Smithfield. Witnesses saw Roger Geddie fire several shots into the truck as it went by.
Geddie faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and intent to kill.
Officers are gathering more information to support a motive for the shooting.
"Apparently, maybe earlier in the evening, he was upset about some activity in the neighborhood, and what was going on in the neighborhood. I think there was some alcohol involved, also," says Chief Steve Gillikin of the Smithfield Police Department.
Two passengers in the truck were shot and taken to local hospitals. Their identities and conditions have not been released.
