Nortel Announces 400 Layoffs At RTP Plant

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — There are more job cuts planned at Nortel Networks.

Nortel Networks plans to eliminate 400 jobs by selling its manufacturing operations in Research Triangle Park. C-MAC, a company in Creedmoor, will be contracted to assemble and test telephone switching equipment.

Nortel Networks has laid off 30,000 people so far and plans to cut 20,000 more jobs this year.
