FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville convenience store clerk faces a criminal charge after a teen driver who had been drinking flipped her SUV nine days ago, killing two people.

Agents with the state Division of Alcohol Law Enforcement on Monday charged Natasha Clark, a clerk at the Firststop store at 1913 Ramsey St., with one count of selling a malt beverage to an underage person.

Seven people were in a Nissan Pathfinder early Aug. 6 when it hit a curb on Rosehill Road and overturned, police said. Passenger Denzel Graves, 16, of Spring Lake, died at the scene, and another passenger, Cheyanna Cummings, 18, of Hope Mills, died the following day at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Driver Bryanna Hamilton, 17, is charged with two counts each of felony death by motor vehicle and felony assault by motor vehicle and one count each of driving while impaired, speeding, careless and reckless driving and driving without a license.

Warrants state that Hamilton's blood-alcohol level was 0.14, or nearly twice the level at which drivers are considered impaired under North Carolina law. The Pathfinder also was going 55 mph in a 45-mph zone, according to warrants.

Fayetteville police have said that Hamilton had left a birthday party at a house off Ramsey Street to pick up some people and was returning to the party when the wreck occurred.

Charges also are pending against the host of the party, ALE spokesman David Williams said.
