GOLDSBORO, N.C. — As patriotism continues to sweep across America, people are coming up with different ways to show their devotion. Tattoo studios are seeing requests for patriotic designs skyrocket.
People requesting the art like Kathy Cook say it is a good way to show their love of country, even if it does hurt a little.
"I like to express myself in a way that other people can see and tattooing is a permanent mark, so anytime I wear shorts, they're going to see that I choose to wear it and express it that way," she said.
Tattoo artists say anyone considering a visit should know that tattoos are permanent. The Red Cross requires people with new tattoos to wait 12 months before giving blood.
