Biden visits Chapel Hill for Democratic fundraiser

Posted July 22, 2010

— Vice President Joe Biden visited Chapel Hill Thursday to raise money for the Democratic party. About 200 people attended, and tickets were $500 each.

He flew in to Raleigh-Durham International Airport and traveled to a reception at The Carolina Inn. The event featured heavy security and heavy power players – a sight North Carolina could see more of if the 2012 Democratic National Convention comes to Charlotte.

The city is said to be on a short list of possible sites that also includes Minneapolis, Cleveland and St. Louis.

"The vice president, the president, the administration knows this is an important state," said North Carolina Democratic Party Chairman David Young. "Everybody is focused around the country on North Carolina."

To welcome Biden, the state's Republicans planned a news conference to question the Obama administration's economic policies.

But sometimes, like a broken clock right twice a day, Biden is right. Such as when he said:

"Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me."
Joe Biden, speaking at a town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire, Sept. 10, 2008

    or

If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, there's still a 30% chance we're going to get it wrong." Joe Biden, speaking to members of the House Democratic caucus who were gathered in Williamsburg, Va., for their annual retreat, Feb. 6, 2009

Oh, I forgot. Biden used the taxpayer funded stimulus money to pay for his travel.

That 100K would buy a lot of cans of beans for the folks that are going hungery in this state. This is the perfect example of politics over the needs of the people. We have finally reached the point in this country that the people mean nothing.
5 generations of my family have fought and died for this country, I was the last to shed blood "I will NOT lift a finger to protect this country any more". Learn to speak Chinese

I've always wondered why people shell out their money to these stupid fundraisers. If you want to give your money to them then just do it. Does seeing the VP somehow make you a better person? Well you know what they say about a fool and thier money.

For all of you liberals that complain about right of Marxist or Socialist, sorry about that. Maost of us-and tea partiers especially are concerned about President Obama and the Democratic Congress spending the United States into bankruptcy. Plain and simple-we cannot run our families that way-and sooner or latter, the bill will come due. I agree with your arguement that Bush spent too much-and you are right.

Government takeovers of GM and Chrysler, bailing out Wall St., Pay Czars, Stimulus(which was little more than Democrat pork), and Obamacare are all moves way left of where America belongs. Fortunately, it looks like Cap and Trade(tax energy more-take away more jobs) may not fly.

So friends, it's not about race. The LEFT-not the right-are making race relations much worse than they were just 2-3 years ago. Sorry guys-I blame the racist Obama and the NAALCP for that-and certainly not tea partiers!!

ALl will be different after November 2nd. Maybe then, we can reclaim the US.

I hope the SHP is sending the Democrat Party a bill for the salaries for all of the troopers plus the gas needed for the motorcycles, cars, suvs, and the helicopters for Biden's Clown Car possession to Chapel Hill and back.

Most likely the SHP isn't sending a bill since "status quo" Bev is governor.

No wonder our NC taxes keep going up and up and up under the Democrats in Raleigh.

So, how much did his travel cost the taxpayers in order to raise $100K for the NC Democratic Party?
    sillywabbitthepatriot

Probably a lot less than when Dick Cheney did it. Not only did they make money for the GOP they made money on the fuel it took to get them there!!!! You love the oil boys! See "Arbusto Energy" for any doubts.
