Budget talks are on local governments' menus Monday
Wake and Person counties and the cities of Raleigh and Durham were holding public hearings on their proposed budgets Monday. Meanwhile, Chapel Hill town leaders plan to vote on a budget Monday night.

Wake County and Raleigh are both expecting to make big cuts to different departments and other services, but neither is proposing to increase taxes to balance the budget.
The Wake County budget hearing began at 2 p.m. in the Wake County Courthouse. Raleigh, Durham and Person County were all holding separate public hearings at 7 p.m.
Also on the Durham budget, Police Chief Jose Lopez will give the city's quarterly crime report.
Chapel Hill town leaders plan to vote on a budget. They're also expected to vote on a zoning ordinance requiring developers to include more affordable housing when they build.
Chapel Hill is one of the most expensive places to live in the Triangle.
