WRAL News Poll: N.C. voters have yet to form opinion on U.S. Senate candidates

Between March 26 and 28, surveyors asked 535 registered voters in North Carolina about the candidates for the Senate and found that only incumbent Republican Richard Burr was well-known enough that a clear majority of voters have an opinion about him.

Burr was viewed favorably by 32 percent of registered voters surveyed. Twenty-four percent had an unfavorable opinion of Burr. About 17 percent were neutral and 28 percent said they had no opinion.

The margin of error for the question was plus or minus 3.8 percent.

By a wide margin, those surveyed named the economy.  The next important issue for voters was health care.

About 41 percent felt that Congress has gone too far with recently passed health care reform legislation. Twenty-two percent said they would like the health care system left alone and 20 percent said they supported the changes that are being made.

The margin of error on the issue questions varied between plus or minus 3.8 percent and plus or minus 4 percent.
