Durham, N.C. — Durham Mayor Bill Bell will meet Friday with President Barack Obama and members of his Cabinet to discuss the economy and other concerns.
The meeting is part of a U.S. Conference of Mayors meeting in Washington. Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory and Asheville Mayor Terry Bellamy also are among the 85 city leaders taking part in the event.
Bell has submitted a list of infrastructure projects he says could create 600 jobs in Durham if they were funded through the $787 billion federal stimulus package Obama signed into law this week.
