GOP seeks records linking Perdue, corrupt official
The state Republican Party on Tuesday requested all correspondence between Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue and a former state official convicted of soliciting a bribe.

Boyce Hudson was sentenced last week to 40 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to extorting money from an Agri-Ethanol Products in exchange for expediting environmental permits for a planned plant in Beaufort County.
The GOP requested copies of any correspondence since 2001 between Perdue and Hudson, officials and investors of Agri-Ethanol and the state Department of Environment and Natural Resources regarding the ethanol plant. Republican officials said Perdue, the Democratic candidate for governor, received campaign contributions from the various individuals.
"How does the lieutenant governor know these individuals? Why are they supporting her campaign? What do they expect to receive from a potential Perdue administration? " GOP Executive Director Chris McClure said in a statement. "We deserve answers to these questions, and we hope the expeditious response to our request by the lieutenant governor’s office will shed some light on those answers. We can’t move North Carolina forward if we keep repeating past mistakes."
