House backs limits on sex offenders

The state House voted Wednesday to approve a bill that would prevent registered sex offenders from joining online social-networking sites.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The state House voted Wednesday to approve a bill that would prevent registered sex offenders from joining online social-networking sites.

The law also prohibits sex offenders from legally changing their names.

The bill goes next to the Senate.
