Obama to get endorsement from Edwards

Posted May 14, 2008

— Former Sen. John Edwards will endorse Sen. Barack Obama's presidential candidacy Wednesday night at a rally in Grand Rapids, Mich., Democratic sources say.

On Friday, Edwards told NBC's "Today" show that Obama can unite the Democratic party, bring in new voters and get people excited about change.

Edwards said Hillary Rodham Clinton has made a very strong case for her candidacy, but adds "it's very difficult to make the math work" for her nomination.

Edwards dropped his bid for the White House in January. He also was the Democratic vice presidential nominee during Democrat John Kerry's unsuccessful presidential run in 2004.

Edwards lives with his family in Chapel Hill.

Well, Obama's now officially the nominee : Edwards would never risk endorsing someone who might LOSE the primary.

Any respect I had for Edwards disappeared when he refused to take a stand and endorse a candidate before he knew which one was going to be the winner.

John Edwards as Attorney General is scarier than John Edwards as Vice President.

I would have voted for Edwards had he remained in the race. If he ever decides to run for anything else he has lost my vote.

Could this man be anymore embarrassing to this state?

What a wimp! He can only make an endorsement when there is nothing at stake (meaning Clinton is basically out by the math). What was he going to do, endorse McCain?
