UNC SYSTEM BASEBALL CONTRACTS

ASU Baseball Coach Chris Pollard
Contract: July 1, 2007 – June 30, 2011
Annual Salary:

2007-08: $64,400
2008-09: $73,900
2009-10: $84,900
2010-11: $89,145

Bonuses/Perks:

• Coach shall have the opportunity to engage in sports camps through ASU. Compensation for participation will be dependent upon receipts of the camp and will be paid through the university payroll system.

ECSU Baseball Coach Terrance Whittle
Contract: Aug. 1, 2007 – May 31, 2010
Annual Salary: $51,581
Faculty salary: $44,581
Coaching stipend: $7,000

Bonuses/Perks:

• $1,000 if the baseball team’s graduation rate increases by 7 percentage points above the preceding year.
• $1,000 if the baseball team wins the Divisional Championship
• $2,000 if the baseball team wins the CIAA Conference Championship
• $3,000 if the baseball team wins the Regional Championship
• $5,000 if the baseball team wins the National Championship
• Head coach shall have the responsibility and authority to make recommendations for the hiring or dismissal of all assistant coaching personnel.

ECU Baseball Coach William Godwin
Contract: June 30, 2008 – June 30, 2011
Annual Salary:

• 2007-08: $102,500
• 2008-09: $112,500
• 2009-10: $122,500
• 2010-11: $132,500

Bonuses/Perks:

• $5,000 if baseball team is invited to participate in NCAA Tournament
• $5,000 if baseball team qualifies for play in the NCAA Super Regionals
• $10,000 if the baseball team qualifies for play in the College World Series
• The university will provide a vehicle on loan for the coach to use while performing his duties. The university will provide liability and comprehensive insurance.
• The university will provide a family membership at a local athletic club for the coach.
• During the summer, fall and winter, the coach can conduct up to four weeks of baseball camps. After all university costs related to the camp are paid, all remaining revenue will be paid directly to the coach and the coach’s staff at his discretion.
• The university will reimburse coach for all travel expenses reasonably incurred by him for the purpose of his duties.

NCCU Baseball Coach Henry White
Contract: July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010
Annual Salary: $64,733

NCSU Baseball Coach Elliott Avent
Contract: July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2013
Annual Salary: $112,150
Bonuses/Perks:

• Athletics director and chancellor will make recommendations on performance bonuses (amounts not given)
• Coach shall have input into design and development of any and all NCSU baseball facilities
• Shall schedule games for the baseball program 
• Coach can advise decision-makers on selection and hiring of the following positions:
  
  • Sports Information Director
  • Director of Sports Medicine
  • Head Baseball Trainer
  • Strength Coach for the baseball program
  • Equipment manager
  • Athletic director
     

UNC-CH Baseball Coach Mike Fox

UNC-W Baseball Coach Mark Scalf

Bonuses/Perks:

• $3,000 if the team qualifies as an NCAA regional team
• $6,000 for qualifying as an NCAA super regional team
• $9,000 for qualifying as am NCAA world series team
• $15,000 for winning the national championship/college world series

WCU Baseball Coach Robert Moranda
Contract: July 18, 2007 – July 17, 2010
Annual Salary: $95,000

Bonuses/Perks:

• $5,000 raise in coach’s annual salary after both his first and second full year of employment
• 3 percent annual salary if the team is the regular season champion or co-champion and/or season ending conference tournament champion.
• 1 percent annual salary if the team appears in the NCAA regional baseball tournament
• 1 percent annual salary if the team appears in the NCAA super regionals
• 2 percent annual salary if the team appears in the NCAA College World Series
• Bonus (amount at the discretion of the athletic director) if the team wins the NCAA Division I National Championship
• Coach shall be reimbursed up to $8,000 for expenditures that are defined as deductible moving expenses under the IRS rules.
• University will provide a vehicle on a loan basis for use by coach
  • Coach will provide all maintenance and operating costs for the vehicle, including gas, oil, tires and all unwarranted repairs and all charges for excess mileage
  • Coach must not exceed the mileage restrictions imposed by the dealer
  • If the dealer extends the mileage restrictions for a fee, that fee shall be paid by coach
  • When the coach uses the vehicle for official business, the university will reimburse him at the rate of five and one-half cents per mile instead of the normal state rate for use of a personal vehicle.
  • The university agrees to provide liability and comprehensive automobile insurance.
  • Insurance in excess of the policy’s limits is the responsibility of the coach.
  • The coach must kept records of any personal use of the vehicle and must pay all taxes arising from such personal use.
