Statement from Wild Birds Unlimited Inc.
Wild Birds Unlimited is committed to keeping you and your family safe and informed about issues that may affect the hobby of bird feeding. Your safety and the health of wildlife are our primary concern.
We were notified late this afternoon that Burkmann Feeds, which supplies seed to some WBU stores, is today issuing a voluntary recall on two bird food products. Testing conducted by North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services revealed the presence of Salmonella in one of these two products. Choosing to err on the side of caution, Burkmann has decided to issue the recall on both items.
The Wild Birds Unlimited stores supplied by Burkmann Feeds have been notified not to sell the affected products.
Wild Birds Unlimited is actively communicating with the proper wild bird and health experts to keep our customers informed of any developments that could affect the songbird population and safe backyard birdfeeding practices.
As Wild Bird Unlimited has for many years, we continue to recommend that you practice Safe and Healthy Backyard Birdfeeding.
