WRAL.com archive: Kelly Morris murder case
Kelly Morris, of Stem, was last seen on Sept. 3. The next day, police found her car, keys, purse and cell phone in an undeveloped subdivision, shortly after firefighters responded to a fire at her home, 3220 Tump Wilkins Road.
Authorities recovered her remains Nov. 16, 2009, and charged her husband, Scott Morris, with first-degree murder in her death. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on June 13, 2011, avoiding a possible death sentence.
