1970 – Earned master's degree in physical education from University of North Carolina-Greensboro
1971 – Began college coaching career at Elon College
1975 – Named women's basketball, softball and volleyball coach and associate athletics director at North Carolina State University.
1986 – Coached U.S. women's basketball team to gold medals at Goodwill Games and World Championship Games
1987 – Diagnosed with breast cancer
1988 – Coached U.S. women's basketball team to Olympic gold medal
2000 – Inducted into James Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame
2002 – Launched Jimmy V Classic women's tournament to raise money for breast cancer research
