— The Broughton High School marching band will march in its second Tournament of Roses Parade in four years next January, officials said Friday.

Tournament of Roses Association President Richard Jackson will visit Raleigh next week to formally invite the Broughton High band to the Jan. 1, 2012, parade in Pasadena, Calif. Twenty-one bands will march in the parade, officials said.

Broughton High also marched in the 2008 parade, while North Carolina Central University's band participated in the 2011 parade.

Congratulations to Broughton High! That's indeed an honor! My Alma Mater, East Fairmont High School Busy Bee Band in Fairmont, WV also performed in the Rose Bowl Parade as well as 2 Presidential Inaugural Parades... those memories and experiences that all of those students will have, NO BODY can take them away. :)

Wonderful news. It's great to hear good, positive things that young people are doing. I know there are more good than bad but it seems like we don't get to hear the good as much!! Good job Broughton!!

Awesome news!!! Between Scotty and Broughton its nice to hear good news for a change! The band kids have really been doing a lot of fundraising for this. I know I saw that they were competing for a grant in the Pepsi Refresh event to help with expenses. I logged on and voted for them. Something positive for the kids is wonderful. Keep up the good work.
