After months of unemployment, Melinda Pfeiffer turned to a higher power. She wrote a letter to Santa asking for a job.

"Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is a job," she wrote.

The web editor said more than a dozen interviews had turned out the same – until the jolly old elf came through for her.

On Tuesday, Pfeiffer accepted a contract position at Lenovo.

"Santa apparently does read his mail," Pfeiffer said.

I wouldn't be too quick to praise Lenovo for this bit of good press. Lenovo sent about 15 Web Editors packing and their jobs to Malaysia in 2007. We were "replaced" with unskilled labor they had to hire and we were then tasked to train! The support site has suffered with declining quality ever since.

She will actually work for a contract company and may not have any benefits other than a pay check. And she could be gone again in a few weeks.
