Wake County animal shelters offer Black Friday deals

Posted November 26, 2010

— Two Wake County shelters are offering deals on Black Friday.

The SPCA of Wake County has a "Pets are Priceless" campaign underway. Starting Friday, people can name their own adoption fee.

The SPCA traditionally charges a $115 for dogs and $95 for cats. The promotion runs through Dec. 31.

From noon until 6 p.m., any animal with even a hint of black will qualify for a flat $25 adoption fee at the Wake County Animal Shelter, organizers said. Statistically, animals with dark or black fur tend to spend the longest time at the shelter.

The fee includes spay/neuter services and a microchip.

The Wake County Animal Shelter is located at 820 Beacon Lake Drive in Raleigh.

Pet's are not good "gifts". A person needs to indivdually decide on what pet they want & if they are committed to caring for the pet long term.

Please keep in mind if you do take advantage of these "specials"--you do realize the commitment you are making. It's not just yeah, I can afford a pet now that they have this special deal. Keep in mind it is a lifelong committment for you to take care of your new pet and that you will have ongoing costs to purchase food and vet care. I am not trying to be a "scrooge" but please please take the time to pick a pet right for your family and be sure to give them LIFELONG love and care! On that note, I do hope this deal can make it possible for some good people to adopt a pet that may not have been able to before!

Better than any gift from a mall is the gift of life and love that only a pet can give it's new owner...

Please consider helping these wonderful and lonely animals find a home this Christmas.
