Edgecombe County selects Principal of the Year

Tarboro, N.C. — Dr. Lisa H. Cooke, principal of Tarboro High School, was named Principal of the Year for Edgecombe County Public Schools on Monday.
Cooke will receive a $1,000 award and recognition at the Gold Key Award Program in December. She will compete with other local award recipients for regional and state honors as part of the Principal of Year program sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and Wachovia, a Wells Fargo Company.
Cooke has served as principal at Tarboro High School since 2007. She began her career in education in 1987 with Alamance County as a teacher of hearing impaired students. Since that time, she has worked in different capacities as a teacher, principal, and district administrator with agencies that include the NC Teacher Academy, Orange County Schools, and Guilford County Schools.
