CARY, N.C. — Ownership of a park dedicated to veterans in Cary will change hands by next year.

SAS deeded 11 acres at Harrison Avenue and Cary Parkway to a nonprofit veterans foundation several years ago for a park, but the group had trouble raising the money needed to complete the park.

So, the Cary Town Council on Thursday voted to accept a donation of the land from the foundation and a proposed 120-foot monument from SAS. Veterans Freedom Park will become town property once the spire is built in 2011.

Cary will pick up the tab for costs like road improvements and sidewalks.
