Reduced adoption fee draws crowds to SPCA

Posted July 5, 2010

The SPCA of Wake County set an adoption record with its Independence Day Adopt-A-Thon. More than 115 animals found new homes over the past 48 hours, spokeswoman Monday Lamb said.

The shelter, on Petfinder Lane in Raleigh, was offering pets for adoption for just $17.76 in honor of Independence Day.

The fee includes spay or neuter surgery, a microchip and vaccines for each animal. It is a significant savings over the usual cost, which ranges from $70 to $115.

Lamb said an additional 24 animals had been reserved during the event and were expected to be adopted Tuesday.

Let's hope these pets don't make their way back to the shelter....I really hope these animals have found their forever homes....

That is wonderful news! I hope pet owners will remain responsible and take good care of their new found friends.
