Chapel Hill, N.C. — The NC Cancer Hospital on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill will recognize the long-standing support and $50,000 donation of women's basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell by naming a classroom in her honor at the hospital school.
“It makes me so happy to support what our UNC doctors and staff are doing for kids and I hope that kids who use the classroom will feel a connection to everyone in the Tar Heel family who is pulling for their recovery,” Hatchell said in a statement released Friday.
Doctor Stuart Gold, chief of pediatric oncology, said the hospital school is an essential part of the cancer center's mission to treat the whole child.
