RALEIGH, N.C. — An 8-year-old Raleigh boy got a thrill Friday when he was sworn in as the first honorary officer of the Raleigh Police Department.

Will Bunn got a full uniform and an authentic badge.

Bunn, who was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, said he's always wanted to "protect and serve" the community.

"I like all the handcuffs and how they go check out the jail and stuff," Bunn said of why he wants to be an officer. "I really like it how they do all that stuff."

The police department made his dream come true after he expressed his wish to an officer visiting his school.
