Raleigh adopts Chinese 'sister'

Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh added another sibling Tuesday by adopting a sister-city agreement with Xiangfan City, China.
Xiangfan City is located in the Hubei Province in east central China. It has a population of 466,000, with the greater area being home to a population of almost 5.8 million.
Vice Mayor Zhenqiang Shi and 11 other dignitaries representing industry, government, pharmaceuticals, economic development and finance in Xiangfan City, were in Raleigh for a Tuesday morning signing ceremony. Shi was a visiting scholar at Duke University in 2007.
Xiangfan City is Raleigh’s fourth sister city, joining Compiegne, France, Rostock, Germany, and Kingston upon Hull, England.
