Fallen officers to be honored

Wake and Cumberland counties have planned memorials this week to honor law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, a part of National Law Enforcement Memorial Week.

The Wake County Law Enforcement Officers Memorial will be held in front of the Progress Energy Performing Arts Center, Monday at 10 a.m.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will join forces with the Fayetteville, Hope Mills Police, Fort Bragg, and Spring Lake police departments and the state Highway Patrol for a memorial Wednesday at 8 a.m. in the courtyard of the Cumberland County Courthouse.
