Johnston names outstanding first-year teacher

Erin Gamble, a teacher of exceptional students at McGee’s Crossroads Middle School is the Johnston County 2009-2010 Outstanding First Year Teacher, the school system announced Friday.

Gamble is a Wayne County native and a graduate of Rosewood High School and East Carolina University.

Gamble's mother and sister are also teachers in the system.

    Awesome! Having a special needs son, I can truly appreciate the difference a good special education teacher makes to these young kids who struggle through school each day. I commend Ms. Gamble for being a teacher, but especially a teacher of children with special needs! It takes a special person to connect with these kids!
