Raleigh man gets medals earned in Vietnam

Posted February 15, 2010

— Sen. Kay Hagan visited Raleigh on President's Day to present some long-delayed honors to a former sailor.

Archie Johnson earned three medals for his service in the Navy during Vietnam. He was supposed to receive them in the late 1970s, but, he said, they were overlooked.

Hagan presented Johnson with his medals Monday at the VFW State Headquarters.

Are you kidding Me?!?? This article writes like some local stiff receiving an award for being a good civitan. Surely WRAL could've done the research into what the Service Awards are all about.
I mean the Medals are being awarded to a Patriot not a flipping "Daily Do Gooder". This Patriot served his country during War Time, surely WRAL owes Him a story worth of his Service.
