Posted December 7, 2009

— Chapel Hill's new mayor and four town council members are officially on the job.

Mayor-elect Mark Kleinschmidt and council members Penny Rich, Ed Harrison, Laurin Easthom and Gene Pease took the oath of office Monday evening.

Kleinschmidt replaced Kevin Foy.

Foy, who has been mayor since 2001, announced in May that he would not seek another term.
