Cary, N.C. — A food drive at Triangle-area Chick-fil-A restaurants paid off for diners and for the hungry Thursday.
Customers could get a free biscuit or chicken sandwich with the donation of three non-perishable items at any participating restaurant between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday.
At the Waverly Place location in Cary, volunteers staffed a tent to accept donations in the drive-through lane, and customers lined up to give and get.
The donated items will fill the pantries of local food banks and the shelves at the Raleigh Rescue Mission and the Durham Rescue Mission.
