About 150 fans of Chick-fil-A camped out in the parking lot of the newest restaurant in Holly Springs in an effort to get a year’s supply of free food.

The first 100 people in line when the restaurant, at 1655 N. Main St., opens Thursday will get free food from Chick-fil-A for a year.

Some people drove from Virginia and South Carolina to attend the grand opening.

Jake Knupp, who claims he is the restaurant’s No. 1 fan, drove from Virginia to attend the opening. He said it is his 40th grand opening. His goal is to have attended 50 openings by Feb. 13, when he and his wife celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

The day they were giving away a free chicken sandwich to anyone wearing any sports team gear, my son went through the drive-thru with his dog who had on his "Tarheels" collar. They gave the dog a free sandwich, too. Pretty cool! Or, at least the dog thought so.

you have got to be kidding me. oh well that's 100 potential jobs that i can get while they sit in the parking lot "eeting mor chik'n"

It's always a nice experience when I visit Chick-fil-A, unlike most of their "competitors."

Wish I had the time, I'd love to Eat More Chicken for a year!

The employees treat you as if you were in a regular restaurant, not fast food. So many little extras that make a big difference. I think it starts at management and works its way down so that the customer notices a difference. They got it right.

I love Chick-fil-A but I always get cravings for it on Sunday d'oh!!
