— Coinciding with the start of the 2009 basketball season, Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill will publish Coach Roy Williams’ autobiography, "HARD WORK: My Life On and Off the Court," with a foreword by John Grisham.

Williams, head coach of the University of North Carolina men’s basketball team, has the third-highest winning percentage in NCAA history.

Over the last eight years, the 58-year-old Asheville, N.C., native — who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007 — has won 239 games, including 30 in the NCAA Tournament.

"He has nothing else to do !!!!!!!!!! Sounds like he wants to be like MIKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

you mean walk out on his team and petition the NCAA to not have the year count against his record? Doubt it.

the only thing that burns me up is that ROY didn't replace DEAN. if he had, ROY would likely have 4 or maybe 5 nc's by now. when you look at DEAN to kay, you can see that kay was irrelevant.

How is Coach K irrevelant to Deanose, b/c he has more rings, OR b/c he'll probably pass him in all time wins by the end of the upcoming season?

By the way he also has a ring as an assistant coach at carolina! Along with that has one atleast one game in the tourney for 20 straight years! Also has an 81% winning percentage! And so on...

So basically, what you're saying is that Roy has won 2 rings as a head coach, 1 with his own players and is still 1 ring behind Coach K...

I didn't realize they gave out rings for winning at least one game in the tournament, golf clap

What's the total win record for each. Roy vs Coach K?????????

It burns you up knowing that Coach K will surpass Deanose in wins in the next season or so, doesn't it???

What's the title of the book? "How not to screw up when you have the best athletes, by far, in the country."

"I can't wait- I hope the editor catches all the 4 letter words."

    Awesome.

In fact it likely will be about his players, fans, alum, and coaches

Would that be for Kansas or Carolina?

Wow a dookie talking smack about how someone looks when their own coach looks like a rat. I'm sure Roy's book will be classy just like he is... In fact it likely will be about his players, fans, alum, and coaches not the egotistical type mania you find at that elitest university in the wonderful city of durham. I noticed a dookie blogged the most so far in here. Infatuation can be mistaken for jealousy be careful. K is at the end of his career and Roy might be at the peak but he is still winning big. In other words the defending National Champions happen to be a Roy Williams coached team. Dook is irrelevant. Go Heels!
